The Coronavirus pandemic has turned our world upside down. So many of us can't work, especially if you work in a client facing role, like, Hypnotherapy. Hypnotherapists have had to change the way they work
How can Hypnotherapy continue when we are all social distancing?
Hypnotherapy, by nature, involves treating people in fairly close proximity. It's easier to build rapport with a client and to also gauge how the client is feeling, if you are in the same room as them. Body language can be easier to pick up if you are in the same room as someone, there are slight body language responses which are hard to pick up sometimes but can be vitally important when a therapist is trying to gauge the mood of their client.
How can a hypnotherapist still treat their client in lockdown?
Hypnotherapists are now turning to the internet so they can continue to offer the same level of treatment to their clients. Hypnotherapy online is not as widely used as Counselling on-line but it can be done and the potential is there for it to develop rapidly in the future. As the world changes and we all live our lives on-line more and more, the world of hypnotherapy has to change and keep up with technology.
How does it work?
We are probably all familiar with Zoom, Skype, Webex, etc, all online meeting tools that can connect us to each other no matter where we are geographically. An online hypnotherapy session works in pretty much the same way that a face to face session works. There a few key points to remember. A good internet connection is the most important aspect and so is confidentiality. It's really important to make sure that you won't be disturbed, so the hypnotherapy session can happen without any interruptions. Then the session will contain a hypnotherapy script, the same as any face to face session would.
Does it really work?
It can have amazing results if there is really good rapport between the therapist and client, which could have been developed in previous sessions or on-line, but it can also be harder to treat client's who may be more emotional. It's can be harder to treat an emotional client if you are only seeing them on-line. In summary, on-line treatments can work really well for some clients and conditions, but it can also be tricky for some clients that need a bit more emotional support than others.
If you'd like to talk about on-line sessions then get in touch for an informal chat and we can talk about your hypnotherapy needs. Take care x
